The First Jeonju Filipino Community Christmas Party

To hold a post in a community isn't easy at all. I am not the leader of the community ,i am just the assistant to the leader.

At first we planned a party for all filipinos in jeonju regardless of one's religion because not all the pinoys here are catholics although the majority are. We wanted to unite the community and make it stronger by inviting other pinoys and pinays residing in jeonju city. Organizing Filipinos isn't easy especially when it involves money.Anyways we agreed to contribute 10,000wons for the party, Afterwards, we realized the collection isn't enough for the expenses and the main problem is the place to hold the party,

We thought about asking the jeonju city hall for help to give us a place for the party, we were too late because when we went there it was barely less than a month before the event.SOme of us in the community are foreign supporters so we thought they could help us but because it was too late to help us,they instead recommended us to the Jung-ang dong civic center(중앙동주민센터), so our leader, her husband and I went there to meet the jung-ang-dong chief, he was very accomodating but all he could offer is the place on the third floor of the building, after a week we then went to the jeonju tourist hotel to meet the international rotary club of pungnam-dong wherein some of the members connect with the rotary club of lucena city in the philippines, there they made it clear to me and sham that we (filipino community) are now part of the rotary club in partnership with the jung-ang dong civic center.Their help mean so much, their support mean a lot ..

Sham and I went to jung-ang dong civic center again last friday to see the place, that day they moved tables and told us which chairs to use ,we came back the next day(yesterday.dec 19,2009) to fix things..i was late because i had class on saturday afternoons. but i wne there anyway to support the community and to show the korean supporters that I as a filipino am willing to support and give my time and effort for the success of the frsts community party of jeonju.

Today i didnt go to church, someone from the community should be there as early as 2pm to do something .to decorate the place. it wasn't easy.there were only me and my niece ,but few minutes after 3,lencee and kids arrived together with liza's mom, they helped us decorate the place.soon, nida came..followed by sham and the americans who didnt finish the mass just to come early for the preparations.

Many filipinos came.many members of the pungnamdong international rotary club came.the jung-ang dong civic chief came too, there were people who played the saxophone. they promised that if this event will be successful, they are willing to support us more next time.

I hope next time, the event will be more organized, and i hope Filipinos organize themselves and be good examples to show that filipinos can unite too regardless of religion ,job, and status.

Kudos to our leader for her efforts, the supporters of the filipino community, the pungnamdong international rotary club, the jung-angdong civic center chief and his followers who exerted efforts like going shopping with us yesterday and blowing of the balloons today ,the driver who picked us up from the store, the secretary who came even if it's her day off from work, and to all that i forgot to mention who also exerted efforts .thank you thank you
